I just wanted to see the condition of the roots of the black pines, which I did seedling cutting last year. I want to make them as “Neagari” shape (roots exposed), so this is preparation for it as well.
This is before doing replanting. Some grows well, some are not.
These ones are growing well.
These are not…
The first one; looks good “Nebari (condition of roots)” looks good.
Replanting; trying to make roots to every direction.
Like this.Add soil without any gap or vacancy… and done!
I put the soil this much.i didn’t remove the wire. It also helps to stabilize the tree.
This one looks nice, too, but…
I gathered the roots by the wire for “Neagari” shape.
It doesn’t looks well, but I’m trying to make the roots to every direction below the wiring.
Finished. I put soil this much (deep).
This one also looks good for “Neagari”.
Gathered the roots by wire as well.
Same as above, trying to spread the roots below wire to every direction.
I made some shape to the roots.
Looks good, doesn’t it? Shaping for “Neagari” with some twists.
Done! I put small ones into one pot to reduse the space (upper right). I gave a lot of water and that’s it.
I used the soil which I usually use. By using it enough air will reach to the roots and helps the roots grow.
I tried not to make any gap or space between the roots and soil… but I don’t know I did well… I just wish it will be stable and won’t withered and die.
