I checked the situation of the Choujubai (Chaenomeles japonica), which I tried layering last March.
It looks like this;
I don’t see anything like roots.
Now, I remove the cling film outside..
Remove one by one..
Last one is now taken off.
Next, I removed the sphagnum moss. The cotton thread around the moss was totally rotten.
All the moss removed.
Let’s see what is going..
Unfortunately.. no root grew…
At upper part, it looks like “calus” was formed, but it didn’t go well.
Looking from another angle..
It looks like root will grow.. but, this time “Toriki” failed.
However, this Choujubai is growing quite well and new buds are now opening.
Like this.
Or like this.
I really want this Hikobae to have new buds open..
Not yet..
Not yet. But it looks like the buds are getting bigger, means it is ready to open..?
I failed layering Choujubai this time. But the trunk is not too fat, so I can try “Sashiki” (Growing from cutting). I’ll study so far..
