I got seeds of Japanese spindle tree and sowed them. They are now growing well, so I tried wiring.
Today’s targets;
In noodle’s cup at left side, right half is spindle tree. I also sowed the seeds in PET bottle so that the roots grows long. It is for “Nebuse” or “Neagari” shape.
Buds are ready to open..
Now, let’s start from the ones in noodle cup.
First one became like this. Let’s go next!
This one is a bit short, so…
Curve is not too tight.
Surface skin teared a little bit, but it seems ok. The point here is that you should avoid the buds like this when you wire.
This one naturally had nice shape at the bottom;
I feel like “Neagari” shape will make this one quite interesting.
Here it is! It is good that it has buds as you see.
This one is also short, so I shaped it loose.
I don’t have exact image of the shape, so I form them as it goes. I don’t know how it will be in the future.
I formed this one loose as well. Looks not bad, right?
As I wrote, avoid the buds when you wire them. From these poits (buds) leaves and (hopefully) branches will grow.
Done! Do you see the forms of each spindle tree?
Next, the ones in PET bottle. Before wiring, some preparation was needed;
I cut off the above part of the bottle. I left around 1cm for water space.
First one. I shaped this one for “Neagari” or “Kengai” shape.
From other direction;
This is why I cut off the PET bottle.
The other one finally formed like this.
Looks pretty nice..:-)
I feel like these two are good to finish as a pair.
At last I put a lot of fertilizers and gave a lot of water.
The Japanese spindle tree has pretty red flowers, so I’ll try my best to grow them, though it takes a lot of time..!
